RAG Week 2021

For “Raising and Giving” week this year Hamish and I organised an online pet show. Students donated £2 per photo to one or more of the 8 animal categories we had. Then we sent each photo to the judges - 3 of our lecturers Emma, Gretchen and Rosie. They had an incredibly tough job picking the winner, runner up and special mentions for each category as we had over 230 pets entered, each often with multiple photos! Overall we raised an amazing £672 which will be added to the total sum of money raised this year and divided between our 3 chosen charities.

We’d like to give a HUGE thank you to our amazing judges, and to all of you (and your pets) for taking part! In addition to this, we wouldn't have been able to give out some of our amazing prizes without some generous help from Hill’s, Katie Stewart, Nash Dog Co. and Rowbury Gallery!

We also sold fob watches from Nursefobs and suture kits. Not only has this raised a huge amount for our three amazing charities, but Nursefobs also donate 20% of their profits to NHS charities! Please check out their website (link below) to see their amazing range, and how they're helping our NHS!

The Great Vet School Run 2020

This year we started raising money for our three charities in November with our first event: “The Great Vet School Run.” The aim was as a whole vet school to cumulatively run and/or walk 1,710km, which is the distance between each vet school in the UK.
Liverpool→104km Harper → 170km Bristol → 175 Surrey → 69km RVC → 94km Cambridge → 139km Nottingham → 470km Edinburgh → 90km Glasgow → 399km → Liverpool
We had an amazing response to this event and absolutely smashed the target in just 4 days. In total we ran 4,666.70km and raised £945. We also got in contact with other vet schools and Harper Keele, Nottingham, RVC and Surrey all completed the run too, raising money for the charities that they have chosen to support this year.
A big thank you to Vet Partners who supplied us with some prizes for the male and female that ran the furthest, male and female freshers who ran the furthest, the best Strava art and best fancy dress.

RAG Week 2017

Head over to our previous events page to see what Laura organised for our RAG week 2017! It was a fantastic week with lots of money being raised for our chosen charities.

SPANA 2016

Picture

Ollie Dimmock accompanied Bethan Warner, the LUVS charity rep for 2015, to present SPANA with an astonishing £1400. This was a 3rd of the funds Bethan had secured for charity through various events.

SPANA shared their thanks over Facebook with a post receiving over 600 likes, shares and comments, from people congratulating LUVS members on their generosity and Bethan on her fundraising.

SPANA 2015

Sophie Carman, 2015 charity rep, went to London to present a cheque of £1433 to the SPANA HQ. Here she met Chief Executive Jeremy, Head of Community Supporter Care Kirsty, and Veterinary Director Francesca. Once again a massive thank you to all our members for their fantastic charity offerings, and to Sophie Carman for all her fundraising ideas! We look forward to working with SPANA again this academic year when our new Charity Rep, Bethan Warner takes the helm.
