Liverpool University Veterinary Behaviour Society

The Liverpool University Veterinary Behaviour Society (LUVBS) was set up in in January 2020
Have you ever wondered what’s running through your cat’s mind as she purrs contentedly while you stroke her? Or why your doggo yelps and calls for you at the window whenever you drive away from the house? Or why your hamster chews all night on the bars of his cage, like he’s the lead in The Great Escape? Behavioural medicine - the link between emotional and physical health - is a fascinating and essential field for the veterinary student.
A large part of being a vet involves interpreting animal behaviour, therefore, this society graduate is designed to develop awareness, understanding, practical skills and aims to provide more information and practical opportunities in this subject to make you all more confident both on placements and when you graduate.
We were able to host a face-to-face behavioural medicine weekend in conjunction with Sarah Heath BVSc PgCertVE DipECAWBM (BM) CCAB FHEA FRCVS and the team from Behavioural Referrals Veterinary Practice

last year and we are aiming to do the same this year. We have booked the weekend of 25th/26th November and it will be hosted at Leahurst so mark the date in your diaries and we will see you there.

If you have any questions, now, or in the future, then please do not hesitate to contact the team on

Finally, We, are also excited to announce that there is an opportunity for students to join the team for the academic year 23/24. We currently have various roles available. If you are interested in applying for these roles and have some questions, please contact us via Facebook and keep an eye out on the LUVS main page for election details.
